Compania Nvidia incepe sa-si dezvolte urmatoarea generatie de chipuri video, fiind prinsi putin pe picior gresit de catre cei de la ATI-AMD, si in aceste zile ei au introdus primul model din seria GeForce 300.
Acest prim model este unul entry-level, GeForce 310 se constituie in inlocuitorul lui 210, practic un model de baza destinat sa inlocuiasca grafica integrata, pentru ca are o interfata a memoriei doar pe 64 de biti si 16 nuclee de procesare, insa cu toate acestea este capabila sa decodeze hardware continut Full HD si suporta tehnologiile proprietare CUDA si PhysX alaturi de DirectCompute si OpenCL.
Acest model de placa prezentat acum e mai degraba bazat pe arhitectura actual decat pe “Fermi” care va aduce numeroase imbunatatiri in privinta performantelor video, si intre caracteristicile sale amintim o viteza de 589MHz si memorie de 512MB de memorie DDR2 (la 500 de MHz) si cu toate ca este un model entry-level are ca si conectivitate interfate DisplayPort, DVI si VGA.
